Kōichi Kawahara (河原 浩一 Kawahara Kōichi) is a first year small forward at Seirin High.
Appearance[]
Kawahara is a school boy of an average height. His black hair is shaved short.
He wears the red, black and white Seirin High jersey with the number 15.
Personality[]
Kawahara is just as determined to win as the other players at Seirin High. Even if he's just sitting on the bench he still cheers for the team.
He can act funny, like when he just joined Seirin and Riko Aida asked him to shout out his determination, but instead he told the story of his childhood.
Story[]
Introduction[]
Kawahara was first unofficially introduced when he joined the basketball club of Seirin High. He and the other first years had to play a match against the second years and Kawahara was very skeptical and demotivated.[1]
Pre-Winter Cup[]
Kawahara is the only 1st year that didn't play in the streetball tournament because he had flu.[2]
Winter Cup[]
Round 1[]
Along with Seirin High, Kawahara went to the Winter Cup and he is seen cheering them on from the bench.
Finals[]
Kawahara makes his debut in the second quarter of the game against Rakuzan High. He subs in for Hiroshi Fukuda.

Etymology[]
- The name Kōichi means "prosperous" (浩) (kō) and "one" (一) (ichi).
- Kōichi's surname Kawahara means "river beach, dry riverbed" (河原).
- It can also mean "river, stream" (河) (kawa) and "field, plain" (原) (hara) separately.

- His full name was first revealed in the anime, but later confirmed in the CHARACTERS BIBLE.
